Happy Tails from Our Adopters
We love our new family member. You called him Rock Steady, we call him Tink. It is like he has always been with us, and he is my best friend. I know he is happy. I wanted to attach a pic of him so that you can see how much we love him. We actually just went out and got him shirts and sweaters and a new coat of his own. If we ever decide to get him a friend we will definitly come to you.
Thanks again,
Tink's Family
We adopted Darma (and re-named her Dixie) on June 12, 2009. She has been nothing but a blessing to us since we brought her home. She's an extremely happy and energetic dog, who loves unconditionally. The only fear anyone could have of her, would be to have her lick you to death. She loves to give kisses! She loves to run through the woods and play with her little brother, Tank--who outweighs her by 50 lbs. Adopting Dixie changed my family's opinion of the breed, and also my own. We will always have a Staffordshire Terrier and do everything we can to change people's opinions of the breed. We couldn't ask for a better dog. Here are a few pictures.
Thank you!

We adopted Moo-Moo (black & white like a Holstein cow) in early 2008. When visiting the shelter, she was the one cat who was always trying to get our attention while we were looking at the others. She would paw gently at us or cry weakly, all the while seducing us with her cuteness. She was an extra skinny, small adult cat and looked in need of some TLC. Needless to say, we left that day having filled out the adoption papers for her. She made a wonderful addition to our family, being very playful and affectionate. After a year alone with her, we decided that she needed a playmate – she easily wore us out. So we came back to the humane society, fully expecting to come home with another adult cat. However, this time it was an orange tabby kitten/teenager named Stringbean that seduced us with his fleece-soft fur and playfulness. He became the newest addition to our family. Moo-Moo (now called Mu) was hesitant of him at first, as his energy level even exceeded hers. But soon she came to love him as her son (while we think that Stringbean is in love with her), and now they can often be found tearing through the house, chasing one another or wrestling, followed by a good nap curled up together giving one another affectionate licks to their heads. Mu is still a small cat but no longer skinny, while Stringbean isn’t a stringbean anymore but a healthy adult male. The picture attached shows a typical Sunday afternoon round up of the cats and me. Thank you so much for taking care of our feline companions before the became part of our family!

Attached is a foto of my 2 cats, Duie (the tuxedo) and Minnie. Both were unplanned adoptions from the West Shore shelter several years ago. I stopped at the shelter to drop off some donations and went to the "cat room" to look and came home with Duie, a few months later I once again stopped in to drop off some supplies, visited the cat room and came home with Minnie. Since then I have been encouraged to now leave donations in the bin outside the shelter! As you can see they are BFF's and provide us with many hours of enjoyment. Our thanks to all the staff that provide for the animals at the shelter.

My boyfriend and I adopted Sammy (Kovu in the shelter) a year ago, and I can honestly say he is the greatest thing that has happened to both of our lives. I thank God everyday that we had the privilege to adopt him. Hes the most loving and sweetest dog in the world. Ive never met a dog that loves to cuddle as much as he does. He is always right by our sides literally, he actually sleeps in the middle of us with his head right on our pillows! sometimes he'll even throw a paw over our shoulders. Its hilarious. We get so many compliments on how well behaved (and adorable) he is, its like having a child on the honor roll! He just graduated his doggy classes at petsmart which helped :) He was only at the shelter a month but i just wanted to let you know how well Sammy is doing. His days are filled with belly rubs, treats, long walks and many trips to the river so he can swim! Which he absolutely loves to do we have a hard time getting him out of the water! He splashes around then he'll eventually jump in then bite his leash like he thinks were pulling him ashore, Its the funniest thing Ive seen! People actually stop their walks along the river to sit and watch him! Also many of our family member went and adopted shelter dogs after falling in love with Sammy. My Boyfriends mom Adopted Katie (midnight at your shelter) a few months ago and Katie didn't get along with other dogs. Well after numerous meetings with Sammy she can now take her to the dog park and not be afraid shes going to snap at other dogs anymore. Its almost like Sammy rubbed off on her and showed her its alright and she doesn't have to be afraid. He truly is a blessing to everyone he meets. I would never call him a rescued dog because honestly he rescued us!!
Thank you,
Amanda
We recently adopted Harley which his name used to be pistol. Here are some pictures of are wonderful baby. He is the greatest thing ever to happen to us. We can not believe that a dog this great was passed up and sat in there for 4 months. Its sad that all them dogs have to go threw that its a shame for them. At least one was saved and we are very great full for him. Once again thank u and the human society for a baby boy. Steven, Sarah and Harley
My name is Bonnie and I adopted a kitten on December 5, 2009. His name was Blitzen then but his name is Diddy now. He's now 7 months old and is doing great. He started off on a rocky road with a constant cold & eye infection for about 3 months but after several trips to the Vet and a few $$$$later, he's now healthy and thriving. He is so sweet, he's just like a baby...he has me on a schedule of 4:00-5:00 am playtime, feeding, etc...(I'm working on changing that schedule for sure) but I love him just the same. I just wanted to share a few picks of him (see attached) with everyone and would love to have it posted on the Humane Societies testimonial site if I may. Thanks for giving me one of the greatest joys of my life...Diddy.

Before Christmas we adopted Joe Frazier who we were told had been there for a few years. We were very pleased with him once we brought him home. Joe is as good as they come. He is a very good listener and a very good dog to be able to play with. Once we got him home it seemed like he lived with us forever he was so comfortable around us and he would always want to snuggle with us. Shortly after adopting him we took him to petsmart and got his picture taken with Santa whom he was frightened of! We gave Santa a treat to give him and Joe jumped with excitement ( Joe is a treat lover!!). We are just so happy to have found such an amazing companion. We just wanted to say thank you to the Harrisburg Humane Society for giving us a chance to give such an amazing dog a home!
Thank You
