5K Run/Walk for the Animals

THE RESULTS ARE IN!

The 19th Annual 5K Run/Walk for the Animals was a raging success despite the dreary weather. The event was held at Wildwood Park and Olewine Nature Center in Harrisburg on May 7. This family and dog friendly event had something for everyone, and all the proceeds benefited more than 500 homeless pets at the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area. A total of more than $43,324.23 was raised. Our top individual fundraiser award went to Marcia Mikos with a total of $1,811.14. Congratulations to the employees of McNees, Wallace & Nurick LLC for taking the top fundraising team spot by raising $2,060.00.

Thanks to all of our participants, donors, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff for the great effort in making this event such a success!

Book Buddies

LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL ACITIVITY FOR YOUR CHILD THIS SUMMER?

Consider the HSHA BOOK BUDDY PROGRAM. This program helps children in Grades 1-8 keep (or even improve) their reading skills sharp while they provide socialization for our shelter cats. Reservations are required so we can ensure that we have space and volunteers ready to assist.  Time slots are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Please email this completed form and return it to nancyv@humanesocietyhbg.org

How Can I Help Homeless Animals in My Community Today?

We are currently in need of paper towelsnon-clumping kitty litter, non-scented clorox bleach, sturdy dog toys, dry kitten chow food and cat toys. If you'd like to help out, please drop some off at the shelter!
