Volunteers are a vital part of the HSHA team. Without them, we would not be able to perform many of the essential functions at our shelter. HSHA is always looking for dedicated and committed volunteers to assist with the shelter animals and some of the everyday responsibilities of shelter life. Whether you are interested in walking dogs, helping at events, or socializing cats, there is a place for you at HSHA. The animals are waiting for you ... get started today!
1. Download a volunteer application here. After filling it out, Fax (Fax #717-564-1867) it to Nancy Valdez, HSHA Volunteer Coordinator, scan and email it to email@example.com, drop it off during regular business hours or mail it to the shelter (7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg 17111). Or click here to fill out our online application. You will be contacted after your application has been processed.
Potential volunteers, please note:
2. Review the volunteer handbook. Volunteers should be familiar with the policies and procedures detailed in the manual.
For more information, contact the volunteer coordinator, Nancy Valdez at (717) 564-3320x122 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTE TO DOG WALKERS:
Dog walking volunteers are required to purchase an approved leash (approximately $10) for use with HSHA dogs prior to the start of your volunteering. This requirement is for the safety of both volunteers and dogs.
We are currently in need of peanut butter, paper towels, sensitive stomach dry cat food, non-clumping kitty litter, sturdy plastic bottles (NOT soda) and cat toys. If you'd like to help out, please drop some off at the shelter!
We have several dogs and cats that are looking for a foster home. If you think you may be able to help, please visit our Fosters Needed page.
